So my advice is, it's great for learning a DAW, and you can use it for audio jobs like mixing/mastering if you kit it out with quality sounds, but i know alot of really good producers, and none of them use Mixcraft. That's simply because its quicker to load the audio files in, and it runs well on a laptop and takes up less space on the PC, so he can do his mixes whilst hes away traveling to playing shows. He's always complaining about how unreliable the software is compared to like cubase/abelton etc, and he really only uses it to mix/master multitracks or stems hes pulled from other sessions. My mate is a DNB Producer who uses mixcraft a little for stem mixing/mastering, but generally produces alot of sounds externally. It misses alot of key elements that other industry DAWs have made standard like a solid parametric/dynamic EQ, compressors/eq/delays that dont sound plastic and fake, and decent/quality emulations of analog gear. The synths on mixcraft are pretty awful and i'd go as far to say unusable in comparason to other vsts by NI or spectrasonics. To be honest though, the thing that makes it pointless to do that, is if you've got the money you might as well just get something that already has decent sounds/plugins. If you're going to kit it out with quality external VSTS (not just shitty free ones) and any external enhancers: feel free to use it. it's easy to work with the tracks, everything is straight forward and uncomplicated - practically anyone can learn it. In my opinion, generally speaking mixcraft is very good for quick jobs.
